There is no doubt Aiseesoft Total Video Converter has a rather descriptive name. However, what its name does not say is that, besides transcoding video, this tool can also convert between audio formats. Not only that, this program can also be used to perform several basic editing operations. Its interface has a commonly used layout; so, if you have previous experience with this type of product, you can start using it right after its installation without any further help.

The converter allows processing batches of files, which saves a lot of time and effort. Moreover, it can import practically every audio and video format, either individually or as complete folders. Likewise, its support of high-definition clips of up to 4K is definitely something worthy of attention. However, unlike similar software, this program cannot download video or record it directly from a camera.

Most users would like to make some changes to the original file before proceeding to convert it. In this regard, it is good news that the program lets you select the desired audio channel and even add another track from an external file. Similarly, you can pick any of the embedded subtitles or import others. Like many other similar tools, Aiseesoft Total Video Converter supports common editing procedures. Thus, it allows extracting one or various segments and recombines them afterward. Likewise, you can use it to crop a frame region, rotate the image, add effects and print watermarks on the video. However, what makes this tool stand out from the rest is that it can apply 3D effects to flat video, using various types of 3D settings, such as anaglyph and split screen. And even better than that, the program has the rather infrequent ability to upscale video, which means that, when you increase the definition of a given clip, the tool applies algorithms that actually enhance their quality.

For many people, setting output parameters is the most complicated part of transcoding video. Therefore, it is good news that the converter comes with several targets presets, which avoids compatibility issues with various types of playback devices. It is also great that you can set profiles separately for each source file.

All in all, Aiseesoft Total Video Converter is absolutely a product that deserves attention. It has some rather unique features, such as supporting 4K video, extracting more than one segment from a single source file, simulating 3D video, enhancing image quality and using individual conversion profiles. Luckily, its trial version does not have limitations regarding the use of these features. However, it does restrict the length of the converted movie to about five minutes.
